LaGoonies Garage: The Story of How We Came to Be

We have pretty much been friends since we could think for ourselves. Since the times when we knew we were breaking the rules but didn’t care.

Three of us (Marlee, Stacie, and Skyler) grew up in Gilbert, Arizona either next to a skate park or in an empty housing development that was scarred with tire tracks. Our nights and weekends were filled with every activity imaginable; San Dunes, lakes, mountains, snow, cement… Or so we thought. As  “Zonies” do, every summer we traveled to Pacific Beach, San Diego  or Huntington Beach, Orange County. Once one of our parents had a vacation house in HB, all of or best friends flocked. We learned how to surf immediately. We got hooked, and we never looked back.

We continued to grow up and and even though landlocked 300+ days a year, we still traveled to Mexico, California, Fiji, Costa Rica , Puerto Rico, to participate in whatever natural amenities they had to offer. But mostly to surf.

When one went off to college, the others moved to San Diego and would spend about 6 months in costa Rica every 2 years or so.

This is where we picked up LaGoonies’ member #4, Forrest.

Forrest grew up in Park City, Utah where, as some of you may know, is one of he best places in the world for a Skier/Snowboarder. He spent his time in the mountains. Skiing in the winter, camping and hiking in the summers. He decided he wanted to learn to surf  and was called by the warm waters of Costa Rica. He packed up and moved there. While working at a hostel in Jaco, CR, he met Marlee and they have been together ever since.

The four of us (Stacie, Skyler, Marlee, Forrest) are the LaGoonies.
